Casual vs Pro, Contracts & Transfers

PitchFC has two ways to play. You choose which one you're in — and you can change your mind, with one fair condition we explain below. If you just want to play and have fun, you're casual, and nothing here applies to you.

The two worlds

Casual — the default

This is how the platform has always worked, and nothing about it changes.

  • •Join any casual club instantly. Leave whenever you want.
  • •Play friendlies — and enter any Open league or tournament.
  • •No contracts, no commitments, no penalties — ever.
Pro — for competitors

The pro world is for people who take the eSport seriously and want to compete in official leagues and tournaments.

  • •Pro clubs build a squad on contracts.
  • •Joining a pro club means signing a contract with clear, agreed terms.
  • •Leaving means honoring that contract — or accepting the consequences of breaking it.
  • •Registered clubs can enter Pro-specific competitions — plus all the Open ones.

Going pro — it's your choice

As a player

You can switch yourself to Pro once you've linked your EA account and played a few matches. You'll see the Pro Player Agreement and accept it first. Being a pro player just means you're allowedto sign contracts — it's not a commitment by itself. A pro player with no contract is a free agent and is completely free, exactly like a casual player.

As a club captain

You can register your club as competitive for a season once it meets a small bar (a region set, enough active members). You'll see the Competitive Registration Agreement and accept it. Registering turns your roster into a contract-based squad and unlocks Pro-specific competitions (casual clubs still play the Open ones). When you register, your current members are notified — each goes Pro to stay, or leaves the club.

The honest truth about contracts

We can't physically stop you from leaving your club in EA FC — that's EA's game, not ours. A PitchFC contract is a commitment on this platform. We can't block you from walking; what we can do is apply the consequences below if you break a deal you agreed to. So the real rule isn't “you can't leave” — it's “leaving the wrong way has costs.”

What a contract says

Before you sign anything, you see the full terms. A contract spells out:

Club & you
Who the deal is between.
Length
When it starts and ends (e.g. until the end of the season). It ends automatically on that date.
Signing fee
Credits the club pays to sign you (usually only when you transfer from another pro club).
Release clause
A buyout price — what another club must pay in credits to sign you before your contract ends.
How you can leave
The legitimate exits (below).
What breaking it costs
The exact consequences (below), with the real numbers.

You're only ever held to the terms you actually saw and accepted. If we ever change the rules, your existing contract keeps the terms you signed under.

Leaving a pro club — the right ways

There are four clean ways out, with no penalty:

  1. 1Expiry — Your contract reaches its end date. You become a free agent automatically.
  2. 2Mutual release — Your captain agrees to let you go.
  3. 3Transfer — Another pro club signs you (they pay any fee).
  4. 4Buyout — Your release clause is paid, and you're freed.

…and one wrong way:

  1. 5Breach — You walk out mid-contract without any of the above.

What breaking a contract costs (pro players only)

These consequences apply only if you break an active contract. Casual players and free agents are never affected by any of this.

  • Reputation markA 'contract breach' is recorded on your profile, where clubs scouting you can see it.
  • Transfer cooldownYou can't sign for another pro club for a set period.
  • Credit penaltyYou may forfeit your signing fee and/or owe a breach fee, in credits (never real money).
  • Cup-tied lockWhile you're under contract to one club, no other club can field you in an official competition.

The exact numbers are shown in your contract before you sign. Nothing is hidden.

We don't punish you automatically. Because EA roster data can lag, a suspected breach isn't an instant penalty. Your captain confirms it (and you get a chance to explain — sometimes it's just a sync glitch). Consequences only apply after that review.

Free agents & the transfer market

A free agent is a pro player with no active contract. Free agents show up in the transfer market, where pro clubs can find and make offers to them. When you accept an offer, you see that contract's terms and sign — and you're on the squad.

Changing your mind
  • Player → back to casual: allowed any time you're not under an active contract.
  • Club → back to casual: allowed when the club has no active contracts and isn't mid-season in a competition.

No one is trapped. The only rule is: finish what you signed before you switch.

Quick FAQ

Does any of this affect my stats?
No. Your stats always come from the matches you actually played in EA, no matter what club or contract you're on.
I'm casual — do I need to do anything?
No. Casual is the default and works exactly like before.
Can casual clubs enter leagues and tournaments?
Yes — Open competitions are for everyone. Only Pro-specific leagues and tournaments require the club to go Pro.
Can a pro player play casually?
Yes — a pro player with no contract is free to do anything a casual player can.
Are transfer fees real money?
No. Everything here uses credits. Credits never convert to cash.
What if I think a breach was flagged unfairly?
You can contest it during the review window; unresolved cases go to an admin.
